"As the French scholar Regis Debray points out, the status quo provides the PA elites in Ramallah “with a living, status, dignity and a raison d’être,”

I gather that there is no such thing as ideology, but rather that politicians are besotted with this thing that we call 'history' or atleast a desire to be remembered as some kind of agent in 'history', ultimately declaring their part in a reality that is supposed to be great.

Thank you for an excellent article!

The PA must be dissolved immediately.. it does not represent the Palestinian people and we should not allow it to pretend that it does.

Spot on

A well balanced article.

In many respects, the Palestinians contribute to their own miseries. We must stop blaming the world for our inadequacies. In some ways, those that warned of the difficulties that the Palestinian leadership might encounter in transforming itself from a revolutionary movement to a skilled political machine were correct.
Palestinians must re-group and think of ways of providing a credible international voice advocating the rights of the Palestinians, and the sooner the better.

In retrospect, the signs have been there for a long time. If Abbas was a quarter of the leader he pretended to be, he would have stood in front of the bulldozers that were demolishing houses since he came to power. He never showed his face. So I'm not entirely surprised by his latest inaction.

"For without justice there will be no peace."

I agree but where is the justice in keeping these zionists in Palestine and recognizing their so called right when they are foreigners that came there, used violence and stole the land from its people, they didnt ask the Palestinians for a "green card", they simply stole the land and have used terrorism for over 60 years to keep it, yet we are expected to consider it a just peace that such people are to stay in Palestine and even be given equal rights as the Palestinian people that have been deprived of their land for over 60 years to give room for foreigners from Russia, Ethiopia, Yemen, Poland, Spain, Argentine and basicly from all over the world!

I dont see the justice in this. I believe that everyone that joined the terrorist organisation which is called the israeli army or collaborated with zionazi state, whether jew, druze, Palestinian, a PA official or anything or anyone else should be expelled from Palestine, that is what they deserve and that is justice. Likewise, when a foreigner commits a crime in Europe, he gets deported after serving time in jail, that is for rape, murder and other serious crimes... so why would it be wrong to expel the zionazi criminals that used every form of criminality against the Palestinian people and Palestine? Who are they to be given equal rights in Palestine after everything they have done and are doing?

It is naive to think these people will make a u-turn and suddenly accept the Palestinians as equals when many of them still believe Palestine was empy when they stole it, and those that know that there were people there, see no wrong in stealing it to create the state of Israel, with a few exceptions that arent even 0,0001 percent of the "israeli" public.
